From the moment you arrive at the Players Theatre you know you are in for a unique experience. Enter through the cozy Bravo’s Book Nook to pick up your tickets. You might even get to meet Bravo the theatre dog. Once you check in, you can head to the rehearsal studio for our pre-show workshop. Here, your child will interact with the artists who bring the books to life. You will meet the playwright, composer and an actor while sampling the music and seeing how the layers of the production come together. Then it’s time for a hands-on art activity inspired by the theme of the show.
Now, with your child feeling totally comfortable in the space and enriched with a deeper understanding of the show, you can head down to our intimate 174-seat theatre because the show is about to begin. Meet our house manager, Catherine, and she will guide you to your seat – don’t worry if you’re petite – we have lots of booster seats! You will notice as you glance around the historic theatre that no one is far from the stage. All our shows offer live music played by some of NYC finest musicians and best of all – you can watch them play, because we don’t hide them under the stage.
Literally Alive is known for curating talented young, professional performers who not only delight audiences on the stage but are the type of folks you would want to have a glass of milk and a plate of cookies with. Our productions are classic but never stuffy and are brought to life with lights, sets and costumes created by gifted, local artisans. The show doesn’t end with the curtain call because our cast is waiting in the lobby to say good-bye, pose for photos, sign a program, answer a question or offer a high-five. When you get home, you’ll receive a souvenir book in your inbox – one more way to celebrate a day well spent.
