by Brenda Bell and Michael Sgouros
Stone Soup, an original musical by Michael Sgouros and Brenda Bell, first opened Off-Broadway on July 12, 2009 at the Players Theatre located at 115 MacDougal Street, in the West Village of NYC. Revivals of Stone Soup also appeared at the Players Theatre in 2011 and 2016
Set in the Revolutionary War America, two lost soldiers stumble upon the “perfect” village while searching for food and shelter. Unfortunately, the villagers are not so willing to share with these weary men until the soldiers begin to make their favorite meal – Stone Soup.
This classic fable, told with mirth and music, makes us realize that anything is possible if we all work together. To further the message of community, the audience is asked to bring canned goods to place in our soup pot which will be given to a local soup kitchen. Recommended for ages 3 to 103!
